The vice presidents club was introduced by the club over 15 years ago when a few kind people decided to donate £10 a month to the section, where, a monthly prize draw of £100 would be made to the lucky winner. This was a unique and beneficial form of income for the club. Members vary from players, committee members, supporters and general social members, who, whilst had no direct involvement with cricket, felt that they would like to contribute to the local village club. This scheme has been an invaluable source of income to the section, and, one that is regular and reliable. Its intention was to raise money for the section to purchase equipment that would either benefit the ground or the playing side. Some examples of main purchases over the years have included new covers, rollers, cutters, strimmers, mowers and a bowling machine. Also, we have purchased cricket balls (which are expensive!), training equipment, as well as, using some money for repairs and maintenance to the ground and machinery. As you can see, the money you contribute is a very important part of the running of the section, and, is totally appreciated by the club.
The Prize Draw is done every month and the winner will be notified to all vice presidents either by email, text or letter as well as on the website (please see below for past winners). The winners will be also be displayed on the club notice board. I will be collating every vice president’s details shortly, and, hopefully we will be communicating with you all electronically. A club newsletter is being produced on a regular basis, and, each vice president will receive a copy of this. We are hoping to recruit new members to the vice presidents club, which hopefully might allow us to raise the amount of the monthly prize. We are hoping to hold a night down the club especially for vice presidents, and, information of this will be available in due course.
